Nursing Foundations and Advanced Nursing Practice Laboratory

Nursing foundations and Advanced Nursing Practice laboratory is one which makes the simulation of hospital set up, and the students can practice various nursing procedures on manikin with the help of clinical instructors. These will help the students to reduce the stress and fear about the hospital environment. Students can practice the nursing procedure until they get mastery on specific skills. The Laboratory is furnished with all the necessary equipment’s for enhancing student knowledge and skills related to basic and advanced nursing care. 

Aim

  • To increase awareness among the students in the field of medicine to get a positive understanding between the doctor, nurse and patient in treating patient.
  • To gain practical knowledge and skills on basic Nursing procedure and advanced nursing procedure related medical and surgical nursing without any barrier.
  • Objectives

    Community Health Nursing Laboratory

    Community Health Nursing is the community oriented primary health care programme and the integration of community medicine with the primary health care of individual and community. Laboratory is furnished with all the equipment’s for education and practice of the students about the community situation and to learn the basic Nursing procedures which are to be performed in community settings. This lab ensures the students to learn home visiting using bag technique & practice the community health nursing while providing family health care at their door step using modified home visiting kits and learn to treat the patient in home environment with minimum facilities. The lab is equipped with variety of audio-visual material to stimulate the students and to practice health teaching in the community.  

    Aim

  • Students render comprehensive care to the individual family and community and develop centre understanding of rural community health management.

  • To develop IPR with the village leaders, community and other agencies.

    Computer Laboratory

    Aim

    To develop basic understanding of uses of computer and its applications in nursing and develop computer skills. Computer laboratory is fully equipped with multimedia, internet facilities, well ventilated computer lab. Students are encouraged to utilize the facility maximum for their for-reference purpose, improve their knowledge on hospital management system. 

    Objectives

  • To identify and define various concepts used in computer.
  • Identify application of computer in nursing.
  • Identify features of computer aided teaching and testing.
  • Demonstrate use of internet and email.
  • Describe the use of hospital management system.

    Maternal and Child Health Nursing (MCH) Laboratory

    MCH laboratory provide students with an opportunity to learn and develop the skills essential to MATERNAL & CHILD HEALTH practice. Students are trained in laboratory under the supervision of faculty members to provide them with sufficient experience in dealing with women during the different stages of pregnancy, child birth and paediatric procedures. It is equipped with various models, dummies, bones, charts, instruments, equipment’s and mannequins. The laboratory provides students with a realistic, stimulated clinical environment to practice and demonstrate competency of selected nursing skills.

    Aim

  • To acquire knowledge and skills in reducing nursing care to normal & high-risk pregnant woman during antenatal and postnatal periods.
  • To develops skills in managing normal and high-risk neonates and participate in family welfare programme.
  • Objectives

  • To appreciate the Concepts and principles of midwifery and obstetrical nursing.
  • To provide basic and advanced skill of obstetric & gynaecological nursing.
  • To Reinforce learning using simulation technology and related resources.
  • To Provide students with the nursing skills that are necessary to care for mother and child during the physiological or pathological events.

    Nutrition Laboratory

    The nutrition laboratory designed to assist the students to acquire knowledge for maintenance of optimum health and allow students to gain hands-on experience in a teaching kitchen. The lab facilitates learning by providing the faculty and students with the settings, models, equipment, and supplies necessary to develop skills regarding a nutritious diet for a patient. The laboratory is used by students for basic cooking skills, and learning about the influence of culture on food. Students also use the laboratory for modifying recipes to meet special dietary requirements or health goals.

  • To calculate and analyse nutritional supply of different food preparations.
  • To describe various national programmes related to nutrition.

    Pre-Clinical Science Laboratory

    A comprehensive understanding of Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Pathology is necessary for a carrier as a medical profession. Medical and allied health students study the anatomy of various systems and functions. The laboratory is equipped with full range of models, charts, specimens, adult human articulated skeleton, adult skull, pelvic, heart with large blood vessels, eye with different section, ear with different section etc. Preclinical laboratory is very helpful in making the teaching realistic and interesting one.
